This is the vote for the RegioStars 2018, the project that includes all of the remodeling of the Vista Alegre Area, starting with the restoration of the Museum.
This is an undertaking that is now a finalist in category 5, “Investing in Cultural Heritage”, the winner of which will be unveiled in October by the European Commission Jury.
The fact that this project is a finalist gives us an enormous sense of pride at Vista Alegre.
Vote here in the PUBLIC’S CHOICE to further distinguish restoring heritage for the brand as well as for all of us.
The application began with restoration of the Vista Alegre Museum and expanded onto restoring the history of a place with almost two centuries of Cultural Heritage.
Thanks to the total investment of 44 million Euros, making for ensuring 1495 jobs and creating at least another 100 positions, this project revived the Vista Alegre Area, giving new life to the Museum, Chapel,
Theatre, Surrounding Area, Hotel and Palace, Nursery, Factory and Worker’s Neighbourhood.
Recognizing the Vista Alegre Museum as an International Cultural Centre for conveying the Portuguese Porcelain Heritage makes up the main strategy of this project.
Upon entering the Museum, we come across the first piece of porcelain produced, the last pieces for the Portuguese monarchy and the first ceramic oven in the country.
There is also a creative laboratory for research and porcelain production, specially designed for exchanging ideas and experiences among factory professionals and young artists – the ID Pool Design Residency project.
By fighting back against relocating production, which happened in many companies in the country in the first decade of the 21st
century, the vast historical, cultural and community heritage of the Vista Alegre complex has not been lost, making the place an outstanding tourist destination.
This project resulted from the partnership between Vista Alegre and Câmara Municipal de Ílhavo. An application supported by the CCDR Centro.
