Famille Verte

This graceful pattern of leaves, berries and butterflies derives directly from the ancient China Palace porcelain. At a time when porcelain was highly valued for its rarity, some of these pieces were brought to Europe, directly into the hands of avid collectors. Often embellished with precious metals, they were true gifts, worthy of kings. Many pieces of porcelain produced in China during the Kangxi Period (1662-1722) presented the "Famille Verte" pattern, painted in transparent enamel ink, where shades of green predominated.
